RE: More than yourself ?

I am not just one self. I am more than the 1/4 inch of what ever

happens to be in my cerebral cortex at the moment. I am a certain

history or novel tale, but more than a process of socialization

in a temporal culture. I am a body-mind, thinking with Neuro-

transmitters and glands.

The cerebral cortex is split into two hemispheres, each controlling the side of the body opposite to it. In addition, the right hemisphere is associated with perception of melody, nonverbal visual patterns, and emotion, while the left hemisphere is associated with verbal skills.

Since I am aware of this division of selves it drives the

"religious" urge to find out what is going on. History is the

slow unfolding of awareness, from superstitions and authority, to

choice and power. Power comes both from the barrow of a gun and

knowledge of self.

Of course, I feel insecure in one of my many selves.

There is the

unknowing incompetence, I am foolish and don't know it. I can get

rather defensive. My model for unknowing incompetence is the

public school board rather than the post office which after all

does its' job. I am knowingly incompetent, aware that I make

mistakes and avoid doing what I should be doing. I am unknowing

competent, doing better than I feel, and sometimes knowing

competent, being really in the "grove", going with the flow, and

being more than myself.

The trick of knowledge is very simple to say but hard to

understand. because its' almost glandular knowledge.

The key to

certainty is the awareness of role. Certainty is a "act" I choice

to play, knowing it's an act but fully into the part. I am both

actor and spy. Its' a hard trick to pull off but we all do it

anyway, we might as well do it as well as we can.
