A traditional book has covers, a table of contents, chapters so is liner and fixed in time and space. An electric book has search engines use "wiredbrain" which is not limited in content therefore is non-liner and not fixed in time or space. |

Like the human brain, the internet's packets system could reconfigure itself to work even after portions were destroyed. But using the noise-prone analog circuits of the time, it was impossible to build the necessary switches. Baran concluded that all the traffic would have to be digital. Moreover, the digital traffic would have to be broken into short message blocks now called "packets," each containing its own routing information, like a DNA molecule, and able to replicate itself correctly whenever a transmission error occurred. With many additions and permutations, his original design is today termed the Internet, and click here for the emerging history of the 21st century.
Each individual human, student, teacher, businessperson, politician is at the center of a network of connections, consultants, money, and interests always shifting in their alliances to any larger group. Each industry is a network of partners, relationships, and connections. Each business, family, school, church is slowly becoming a wide area network of dynamic relationships formed mutually with others of their kind and with quite foreign groups. While people have always been connected, the form, range and style of these connections are most important, it's what we call society. Societies of local tribal connections are very different in quality and quantity from the global society on the Internet. The style of the Free Masons are different from Madison Avenue. Updates are needed because many new ideas are not in the current text books. Teachers and readers can create pages to connect to this new information.
New Civilizations
Every text-book, news story, encyclopedia article, should have a web page such as this or weblife.html. Some of these subjects are 30 years old but have not appeared in MOST text books, reference books, or even the knowledge of "experts". Former scientific revolutions took 30 to 50 years to appear in the "literature", shouldn't the Internet make a difference.
4.) better technology ( the result of one,
two and three ) plus
5.) police and/or military power ( law and order )
6.) large and productive territories by way of the the growth of US as
more and more others are included as US and less defense from them as less
and less outsiders are THEM. Good Religion and Politics should allows for
more inclusion less exclusion. All religion is not good, all values are
not right or useful, all politics is not bad, all education is not useful,
all business is not greedy, all women, blacks, Jews, et al is not anything.
Prejudice is not a rational guide to social or personal wisdom.
The inclusion of more and more people and their differences allows for innovations, freedom of expression, democracy, freedom and
7.) integration of smaller groups into larger wholes -
The Politically correct visions of left and right often miss the fundamentals of social history and science. The right forgets the critical role of the "whole" and the left the requirements for standards and clear returns on investments, where cost and benefits depend on individual achievement motivation to go faster, further and higher. Such motivation is best done in "collectives" families, groups, packs, tribes, schools, factories, political parties, churches, and other human life forms.

Global communications networks which produced and regulate life:
Systems - Social Science - economics "Fritjoe Capra"
Dissipative Structures are patterns of non-liner forms created in systems far from equilibrium such as Benard cells, tornados, lasers and living things such as the U.S. Congress and Microsoft. "Llya Prigogine"
Autopoiesis are self-organizing, reproducing, evolving patterns of interactions of Dissipative feedback loops within and among living things such as the stock market, families and states. "Humberto Maturana"
*
KEY WORDS: autopoiesis, autopoietic theory, cognition, constructivism, cybernetics, enactive cognitive science, epistemology, Maturana (Humberto R.), phenomenology, radical constructivism, second-order cybernetics, systems theory, Varela (Francisco J.).
*
The real difficulty in approaching Maturana and Varela's theories lies not in their complexity but in their novelty. Because it takes a while to "catch on" to and shift into these thinkers' perspective, the following readings are ordered so as to provide a 'graduated' progression.

I created a topic on Excite (advances in Artificial Intelligence on the
index page), and added a page

page. My page:

should fit in well with your autopoesis and dissipative systems info Excellent

Last update: May 1997
The School of Cognitive and Computing Sciences (COGS) in the University
of Sussex at Brighton is home to one of the world's largest groups of researchers
studying artificial evolutionary
and adaptive systems. Such work is often described using names such as
Artificial Life, evolutionary
Computation, and Adaptive Behavior research.
